The holiday season is a perfect time to give back to your community, and volunteering is a rewarding way to make a positive impact. Whether it's helping at food banks, donating toys, or supporting shelters, your time can bring joy to those in need.
Food Banks: Help sort and distribute food to local shelters, soup kitchens, and pantries. You may also assist with handing out food at holiday meal pickups or delivering food boxes to families in need.
Soup Kitchens and Homeless Shelters: Serve meals to individuals facing hunger and homelessness.
Salvation Army: A nationwide charitable organization that provides a variety of services to those in need.
City Rescue Mission: Offers meals, temporary shelter, and additional support to individuals experiencing homelessness or food insecurity.
Ronald McDonald House: Volunteer by assisting with daily operations, preparing for special events, or writing thank-you notes to supporters.
Adopt a Family: Many local programs allow you to “adopt” a family during the holidays, providing them with gifts, food, or other support.
At YES Communities, we’re passionate about volunteering. Our YES We Build Community Paid Time Off (PTO) Program allows employees to use 8 hours of paid time off to volunteer each year. This initiative encourages our team to engage with and support local causes, strengthening communities across the country.
If able, we encourage you to look for opportunities in your area—your small act of kindness can make a big difference!
Happy Holidays and happy volunteering!
